FAQ

How do I choose a year-end?
Freely, within 53 weeks of incorporation. December 31 aligns with personal taxes; another date can ease your accountant’s workload.
Do I file a T2 with no income?
Yes, every corporation files a return yearly, even if inactive, within 6 months of year-end.
What if I miss the annual return?
Late penalties, then after repeated omissions, dissolution: the company legally ceases to exist. Revival is possible but costly.
Does it adapt to federal?
Yes: the annual return goes to Corporations Canada within 60 days of the anniversary, plus REQ registration if you’re in Quebec.
