What the table doesn’t say
The registry fee is rarely the deciding factor. Three questions matter more than the $197 gap between federal and Quebec.
Where are your customers?
A provincial company selling elsewhere must register extra-provincially, with added fees and filings. Federal avoids that if you operate in several provinces.

Where do your directors live?
Federal requires 25% Canadian-resident directors. Quebec, Ontario and B.C. don’t: decisive for a founder based in France.

Is the name an asset?
Federal protects the name across Canada; a Quebec company only in Quebec. For a brand, add a CIPO trademark filing.

FAQ
Reviewed by David Roy, lawyer (Barreau du Québec).
Why are some fees in brackets?
We only show an amount verified at source in the last 30 days. Brackets mean verification is in progress.
Is the annual return required everywhere?
Yes, every registry requires a yearly update with its own fees and deadlines. The Watch plan ($9/month) reminds you of each one.
Does the total include taxes?
No. GST/HST and, where applicable, QST apply to our fees based on your address. Government fees aren’t taxable.
Can I switch jurisdiction later?
Yes, by continuation. It’s possible but costly: better to choose right from the start.
